Dear God,
There is someone I know that I need to forgive. Not because they deserve it or even asked for it, but because You told me to. So, Lord, I admit that I am/have been really struggling to forgive ______________. He/she has hurt me so deeply and wounded me.
But, Lord, You reached out to me in kindness before I ever gave You the time of day. You offered me forgiveness for my sins before I was even willing to admit them to You. You loved me even when my attitudes and actions were really unlovable. Thank you for the compassion you showed me. Thank You for not giving up on me when I was too stubborn to change. Thank you for giving me the mercy I did not deserve.
Thank You for offering Your own Son, Jesus, so that I understand the power of forgiveness to change things—especially me. I choose to forgive ____________ in the power of Jesus’ Name.
Colossians 3:12 – 14 “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”
